Abstract:

An olefin polymerization catalyst comprising: component [A]: prepolymer obtained by olefin prepolymerization on a solid titanium catalyst component of 25 to 70 μm average particle diameter produced by mutual contacting of solid component (i) of 26 to 75 μm average particle diameter containing magnesium, titanium, halogen and electron donor (c₃) and being free from detachment of titanium by washing with 25&ring C hexane, polar compound (ii) of 0.50 to 4.00 debye dipole moment and at least one member (iii) selected from among liquid titanium (d) and electron donors (e), in which solid titanium catalyst component the content of titanium in the solid component (i) is reduced by ≥ 25 wt.% and the weight ratio of electron donor (c₃) plus electron donor (e) to titanium [electron donors (c₃+e)/titanium atoms] is ≥ 7, component [B]: organometallic compound, and component [C]: organosilicon compound of the general formula: Si(OR¹)₃(NR²R³) (I) (wherein R¹ is a C₁-C₈ hydrocarbon group; R² is a C₁-C₁₂ hydrocarbon group or hydrogen; and R³ is a C₁-C₁₂ hydrocarbon group). An olefin polymer of high stereoregularity and low molecular weight (high flowability) can be efficiently produced by the use of this olefin polymerization catalyst.
