Abstract:
This one-side illumination-cum-window comprises a plate-shaped transparent base material having two major surfaces, and a plurality of reflective recessed surfaces and/or reflective projecting surfaces formed on one major surface of the transparent base material. For illumination, illuminating light that has entered an end of the transparent base material from a light source and guided inside the transparent base material is reflected by the plurality of reflective recessed surfaces and/or reflective projecting surfaces toward the other major surface of the transparent base material, while the illuminating light is caused to exit from the other major surface, thereby allowing the transparent base material to function as a one-side illumination. During non-illumination, the transparent base material is caused to function as a light-transmitting window. The one-side illumination-cum-window, for illumination at night, for example, is configured to allow the illuminating light that has been output from the light source, entered the end of the plate-shaped transparent base material, and guided in the transparent base material to be output only through one surface. For non-illumination during day, for example, the one-side illumination-cum-window can be caused to function as a transparent window.
