Abstract:
An operating system for a convertible two piece hard top, in which a rigid forward top section is movable to be nested beneath a rigid rear top section for storage when the top is let down to enable a compact storage space for the nested two sections. The forward top section is suspended beneath the rear section by a pair of linkage swing mechanisms moving along guide bars affixed to the rear top section which operate to swing the forward section up to be aligned in end-to-end abutment with the rear top section when the top is raised. The rear top section is tilted up and translated rearwardly during lowering of the top by a pair of linkage-cam slot tilt mechanisms connected to a respective side of the back end of the rear top section.
