Provided is an operation coil drive device for an electromagnetic contactor, capable of confirming the operation resistance value for an operation coil and capable of obtaining a suitable operation coil current for operation conditions. The present invention comprises: current and voltage detection units (37, 38) that detect the current and inter-terminal voltage that flow during switching control of an operation coil in an electromagnetic contactor; and a drive control unit (35) that increases and decreases the on/off time ratio for a semiconductor switching element that switches and applies power supply voltage to the operation coil, increasing same during closed circuit control and decreasing same during holding control. The drive control unit has: a closed circuit control inductance calculation unit (51) that calculates the inductance of the operation coil immediately after commencement of closed circuit control; a closed circuit control resistance value calculation unit (52) that calculates the DC resistance value of the operation coil on the basis of said calculation results; and a closed circuit control switching correction unit (54) that corrects the on/off time ratio of the semiconductor switching element during closed circuit control, on the basis of said calculation results.
