Abstract:
An operation device for a vehicle, in which a selection/execution means is composed of an operation knob (30) and operation switches (31, 32) provided at the knob (30). The selection/execution means enables a user to select any item from an operation menu that is displayed on a monitor and relates to an in-vehicle device and also enables the user to select and execute any one of functions that relate to the in-vehicle device. With the operation device, selection of an item from the operation menu and execution of a function are instructed by operation of the knob (30) and by a combination of operation of the switches (31, 32). By this, the user can issue an instruction, in a short time and in a simple manner, for selection of an item from the operation menu and for selection and execution of a function. This can be done by one hand operation without releasing the hand from the knob (30), which improves operability. Further, the knob (30) is located at an intermediate position between two vehicle occupants at the left and right, and the operation switches (31, 32) are arranged symmetrically about the knob. This enables the left and right occupants to operate the knob (30) and the switches (31, 32) in the same manner. In this way, the occupants can issue an instruction for operation of the in-vehicle device in a simple manner and in a short time.
