Abstract:
Provided is an operation limiting device for a machine tool which can accommodate a wide variety of machine tools, and which can improve degree of freedom for setting an operation limitation area. From among a plurality of drive axes in a machine tool, two or three drive axes (Xa, Za) of different directions are specified. By way of the specified two or three drive axes (Xa, Za), a 2-dimensional coordinate system or a 3-dimensional coordinate system is formed. An area (Ar) in which operation of a mobile body (15) is limited is set in the 2-dimensional coordinate system or the 3-dimensional coordinate system. The drive axes (Xa, Za) in which the mobile body (15) operates are assessed, and in the 2-dimensional coordinate system or the 3-dimensional coordinate system that includes the drive axis (Xa) in which the mobile body (15) operates, operation of the mobile body (15) is limited if the mobile body (15) enters the limitation area (Ar).
