Abstract:

Provided are an ophthalmic device used to determine an optimal addition power closer to a natural vision state, and a method for operating the ophthalmic device. This ophthalmic device is provided with: an optotype presenting unit which presents a common optotype to be visually recognized by both subject eyes; a presentation distance changing unit which changes a presentation distance of the optotype presented by the optotype presenting unit, from a predetermined distance vision distance to a predetermined near vision distance; an ocular characteristic acquiring unit which objectively acquires an optical characteristic of the subject eye; an addition power adding unit which adds an addition power to both eyes; and a control unit which, with an arbitrarily defined addition power added to both eyes by the addition power adding unit, causes the presentation distance to be changed by the presentation distance changing unit, and causes the optical characteristic to be acquired continuously by the ocular characteristic acquiring unit.
