Abstract:
The invention aims at providing ophthalmic lenses of practical use which have an effect of efficiently retaining a drug and gradually releasing it and excellent shape stability before and after drug release, and preservative solutions for the lenses. The invention relates to an ophthalmic lens capable of sustained drug release which is made of a copolymer comprising a hydrophilic monomer having a hydroxyl group in the molecule, at least one monomer selected from among specific methacrylates having phosphate groups, a monomer having a nitrogen atom in the side chain, and a monomer copolymerizable with these monomers and which is characterized by containing a cationic drug inside the copolymer; an ophthalmic lens capable of sustained drug release which is made of a copolymer comprising a hydrophilic monomer, a cationic monomer, an anionic monomer, and a monomer copolymerizable with these monomers and having an anionic monomer content of 30 to 90 mol % based on the cationic monomer and which is characterized by containing an anionic drug inside the copolymer; and preservative solutions for the lenses.
