Abstract:
This optical amplification device comprises: a first optical spatial layout converting means (1300) for converting a spatial layout of a plurality of optical signal beams each propagating through a plurality of cores, from a coupled state (1100A) in which the optical signal beams interfere between the plurality of cores, to a non-coupled state (1200A) in which optical signal beam interference is suppressed between the plurality of cores; an optical amplifying means (1210) for amplifying, in the non-coupled state (1200A), the plurality of optical signal beams of the non-coupled state, and thereby generating a plurality of amplified optical signal beams; and a second optical spatial layout converting means (1400) for converting the spatial layout of the plurality of amplified optical signal beams, from the non-coupled state (1200A) to the coupled state (1100A). The optical amplification device is able to construct an optical fiber transmission system allowing for relay optical amplification that uses a coupled multi-core optical fiber as an optical transmission path.
