Abstract:
An optical amplification system that uses a multi-core fiber provided with three or more nodes and having a plurality of cores in at least some of the inter-node-connecting intervals, the optical amplification system being equipped with: an amplification light input unit for inputting light for amplification into the cores of the multi-core fiber; an amplification unit that is provided in a node or between nodes, and by using the light for amplification, amplifies light for communication that is transmitted by the cores of the multi-core fiber; and an amplification light joining unit for joining the light for amplification, which was inputted by the amplification light input unit, to the amplification unit.
