Abstract:
The present invention provides an optical article such as an eyeglass lens that both is strong and has an enhanced rate of discoloration of a light-modulating layer having photochromic properties. This optical article such as an eyeglass lens has a light-modulating layer that contains a photochromic pigment and a resin component, and a protective layer, said layers being formed on a substrate. The indentation hardness of an inner part in the film thickness direction of the light-modulating layer is within the range of 0.1-10 mgf/μm2. In addition, a value defined as the indentation hardness of an inner part in the film thickness direction of the protective layer multiplied by the film thickness thereof is 5-9000 times a value defined as the indentation hardness of the inner part in the film thickness direction of the light-modulating layer multiplied by the film thickness thereof.
