Abstract:
This optical axis control device (10) for headlights is provided with a control unit (15) that has information associated with a preset reference acceleration in the vertical and longitudinal directions. The control unit (15) calculates a vehicle angle, which is the inclination angle of the vehicle relative to the road surface, from the ratio of the difference between the acceleration signal in the longitudinal direction detected by an acceleration sensor (2) while the vehicle travels and the reference acceleration in the longitudinal direction to the difference between the acceleration signal in the vertical direction detected while the vehicle travels and the reference acceleration in the vertical direction; derives the vehicle angle when the amount of change of the acceleration in the longitudinal direction is zero, by plotting a plurality of the calculated vehicle angles on coordinates where a first axis represents the difference in the longitudinal direction and a second axis represents the vehicle angle; and, on the basis of the derived vehicle angle, generates signals for operating the optical axes of the headlights (5L, 5R).
