Abstract:
In order to provide an optical communication technology that achieves flexibility in a ROADM system, this optical communication device inserts and branches wavelength division multiplexing optical signals that travel along a main path connecting terminals in a network. The optical communication device is characterized by comprising: first and second means that are capable of selectively outputting optical signals having a prescribed wavelength, from among optical signals that have been input; a third means that branches the optical signals input from a first terminal in the main path, to the first means and the second means; a fourth means that branches optical signals input from a branch path in the network, to the first means and second means; and a fifth means capable of selectively outputting, to a second terminal in the main path, either optical signals output by the first means or optical signals output by the second means.
