A transmitter apparatus comprises a plurality of code spreaders that are provided for different codes to be spread; a receiving part that selectively distributes transport data to the plurality of code spreaders; a plurality of optical transmitters each of which transmits, to an optical fiber, a respective code-spread signal as a CDMA optical signal having a different carrier wavelength from the other optical transmitters; and a signal multiplexing part that selectively supplies the outputs of the plurality of code spreaders to the respective ones of the plurality of optical transmitters. A receiver apparatus comprises an optical receiver that receives the wavelength divided multiplexed CDMA optical signals from the optical fiber; and a plurality of despreaders that are connected to the optical receiver and that are provided for the different spread codes. Each of the despreaders reproduces, from the output signal of the optical receiver, the CDMA signal corresponding to a respective spread code.
