Abstract:
An optical connector the connection loss of which is reduced sufficiently without requiring any polishing at the site of laying work. A ferule (1) (e.g. MT type) comprises a front block (12) and a rear block (11). The front block (12) and the front/rear end faces of a plurality of trunk optical fibers (5) contained therein are polished. The rear block (11) is joined and fixed to the front block (12) such that a plurality of inserting parts (112) provided in the rear block are coaxial with the plurality of trunk optical fibers (5), respectively. Adhesive (6) is prevented from blocking the optical path by providing a trench (115) in the rear block (11). The front block (12) and the rear block (11) are positioned, for example, by inserting a guide pin (7) into pin holes (114, 122) provided in both blocks. The adhesive (6) can be prevented from flowing into the pin holes (114, 122) by providing a recess or a protrusion to surround the pin holes (114, 122).
