Abstract:
In an optical connector (10), a front end part of a short optical fiber (12) is inserted and fixed in a ferrule (11), and an end face of an end part of a connecting optical fiber (13) is connected by a mechanical splicer (16) so as to abut an end face of a rear end part of the short optical fiber (12) protruding rearward from the ferrule (11). A dielectric multilayer film filter (15) for blocking or reflecting a predetermined wavelength of light and transmitting other wavelengths of light is formed directly on an end face (12a) of the rear end part of the short optical fiber (12) by vapor deposition. The predetermined wavelength of light may be visible light or a test light of wavelength 1650 nm, for example.
