Reliable data transmission is secured without inviting large design changes by means of configuring the disclosed optical data transmission device (100) in a manner so as to be provided with: data conversion units (210, 310) and optical communication control units (220, 320) that transmit to each of a first communication unit (200) and a second communication unit (300) disposed movably relative to one another an optical signal modulated in response to wired data input from a wired line (13a), and that output wired data demodulated from the received optical signal to the wired line; a bit data input unit (240) that receives input of bit data for emergency stops; a bit data output unit (340) that outputs bit data for emergency stops; and bit data communication control units (250, 350) that control in a manner so as to transmit/receive input bit data via the optical communication control units (220, 320) using optical signals that are isolated from the optical signal corresponding to the wired data.
