Abstract:
Provided is an optical deflector with which it is possible to increase the oscillation angle of a pivot part. A space between a base part (3) and a first position (P1) on an outer edge (24) of a pivot part (2) is wider than a space between the base part (3) and a second position (P2) that is closer to an axis of pivoting than is the first position (P1), thereby making it possible to reduce air resistance for a portion at which air resistance is readily received at high speeds. Therefore, it is possible to suppress increases in air resistance while maintaining the planar view area and increasing the drive force of a drive element (4), and to increase the oscillation angle of the pivot part (2), to a greater extent than with a configuration in which the interval between the edge of a pivot part and a base part is constant.
