Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to provide an optical device and a communication system that make it possible to increase the reach distance by using a light-emitting diode and to narrow the irradiation range. The present invention is provided with: a first barrel having a light-emitting diode provided on the proximal end side thereof and having a diaphragm, provided on the distal end side thereof, for limiting a beam emitted by the light-emitting diode; and a second barrel provided on the distal end side of the first barrel, provided, at a distal end section thereof, with a plano-convex lens that radiates the beam passed through the diaphragm, while suppressing the divergence angle thereof, and provided with an adjustment structure for changing the separation distance from the diaphragm to the plano-convex lens along the optical axis of the beam from the diaphragm.
