Abstract:
Provided is an optical device that can inhibit a decrease in the intensity of emitted light or received light. This optical device comprises: a first structure having a first surface; a second structure having a second surface facing the first surface; one or more optical waveguide regions (20) that contain a liquid crystal material and are positioned between the first surface of the first structure and the second surface of the second structure; and a sealing member (79) that fixes the spacing between the first structure and the second structure and surrounds the one or more optical waveguide regions, and that includes an opening (79o) for injecting the liquid crystal material, wherein the width (79ow) of the opening in a first direction is greater than the width of the one or more optical waveguide regions in the first direction.
