Title:
OPTICAL DEVICE AND DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2022/196591
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In an optical device using an angle selective transmission element, vignetting and a drop in aperture ratio are suppressed, and ghosting caused by light from behind a user is lowered while enabling visual observation and line-of-sight detection. A head-mounted display (HMD) having a line-of-sight detection function comprises an angle selective transmission element, and a light projection unit and a light reception unit for line-of-sight detection, which are respectively disposed in a finder optical path with respect to the eyes of a user, and the HMD can adjust the direction of the finder to the detected line-of-sight direction. The angle selective transmission element has first to third openings each having different directions. The first and second openings respectively limit the transmission direction of light in first and second regions in the finder optical path. The third opening is formed centered on a line connecting an eye point and a light reception element.
