Abstract:
An optical device (10) has: an optical guide member for guiding light, for example an optical fiber (21); an optical element (41) that functions when irradiated with the light guided by the optical fiber and that comprises, for example a fluorescent body; and a holder (61). The holder has therein a first housing section (63) for housing one end portion (23) of the optical fiber and a second housing section (65) for housing the optical element. The holder directly holds the optical fiber and the optical element inside the holder with the first housing section and the second housing section. The first housing section and the second housing section communicate with each other inside the holder. The optical fiber housed in the first housing section and the optical element housed in the second housing section have direct contact with each other inside the holder. The first housing section is larger than the optical fiber such that the first housing section has a size which allows the optical fiber to deform and move.
