Abstract:
Disclosed is an optical digital transmission system which adds one byte, which is a second negative stuffing byte, in an overhead region used for client signal multiplex-storage in an OTU frame; adds one byte, which is a third positive stuffing byte, in the relevant tributary slot in a payload region used for client signal multiplex-storage; adds stuffing control bits, which control the use of the second negative stuffing byte and the third positive stuffing byte, in three locations in the overhead region used for client signal multiplex-storage; uses the added stuffing control bits to execute control when storage of a client signal by means of the added third positive stuffing bit or the added second negative stuffing bit is required; and executes stuffing control without using the added stuffing control bits when storage of a client signal by means of the added third positive stuffing bit and the added second negative stuffing bit is not required.
