Abstract:
Among discs to which data is recorded in a plurality of types of data recording densities, the disclosed optical disc has a plurality of data recording areas that record information at mutually differing data recording densities. Information regarding the data recording densities in these data recording areas is recorded to a BCA area at a particular format that does not depend on the data recording density of the data recording areas. Here, each data recording area is disposed separated within the same surface of the disc, or is disposed separated into a plurality of recording layers.
