Abstract:
The disclosed optical disc device is equipped with a drive selector (28) that switches between the settings that send a drive signal generated by a focus filter (27) to a focus drive unit (29) and the settings that send a drive signal generated by a focus drive generation unit (25) to the focus drive unit (29), and a withdrawal timing detection unit (21) that gauges the arrival of a laser spot in the area of a recording layer when the light level signal detected by a light level signal detection unit exceeds a designated light level and sends the drive selector (28) focus withdrawal timing instructions that switch to the settings that send the drive signal generated by the focus filter (27) to the focus drive unit (29). With this configuration, the optical disc device is able to perform a stable focus withdrawal operation to a recording layer of the optical disc without using a layer distinguishing signal.
