Abstract:
An optical distance measuring apparatus (10) comprises: a light source unit (30); a light receiving unit (12) including a plurality of light receiving elements capable of outputting pulse signals; an adding unit (52) that adds the number of pulse signals to obtain an added value; a histogram generation unit (54) that generates a histogram in which the added value is recorded for each time-of-flight of light; a peak detection unit (56) that acquires the added value at a peak of the histogram as a signal intensity and obtains a distance value from the time-of- flight corresponding to the peak; and a first low-signal-intensity detection unit (621) that detects a low signal intensity that is a signal intensity less than a predetermined first threshold from signal intensities. The histogram generation unit updates the histogram by repeating acquisition and summation of the added value until the signal intensity for the histogram in which the low signal intensity has been detected becomes higher than or equal to the first threshold, and the peak detection unit obtains another distance value from the updated histogram.
