Abstract:
The present invention provides an optical element that carries out the function of a white backlight in a display device using ambient light by virtue of a lighting device as a light source, a display device that includes the optical element, and a method for forming white light using the optical element. The display device, according to the present invention, comprises: a panel that outputs images; a diffraction plate having a pattern recorded by interference between first light that is input in a radiating form and second light having a first incidence angle that is different from that of the first light; and an optical element that radiates multi-white light by diffracting third light that is input to the diffraction plate from the outside while forming a second incidence angle.
