Abstract:
Provided is an optical element manufacturing method which enables low-cost and efficient manufacturing of a chalcogenide optical element having high performance. Chalcogenide glass is heated and melted in a syringe (31), at least at a syringe tip part (31a), and therefore it is not necessary to process the glass into a preform prior to molding, as in press molding that uses a preform, and processing time can be shortened without wasting materials. Due to this configuration, a lens (LE) which is a chalcogenide glass-type optical element can be manufactured at a low cost and efficiently. According to the manufacturing method of the present invention, melted chalcogenide glass is extruded from the syringe tip part (31a) onto a lower molding-mold (12), and therefore it is easy to transfer the shape of a transfer surface (16a) of the lower molding-mold (12) to the extruded chalcogenide glass, and further, an accurate amount of chalcogenide glass can be supplied in a short amount of time by more accurately controlling the supply of chalcogenide glass, and molding can be carried out precisely in short cycles.
