Provided is an optical element that can be used for the purpose of transmitting a single-light-source wavelength, can ensure a high light-use efficiency, and is stable in relation to the external environment. Also provided is a manufacturing method for the optical element. By appropriately selecting a glass fiber and a resin such that the difference in the amount (dn/dT) of change in the refractive index with respect to the change in the wavelength is at most 10.5 × 10-5, the shift amount of a peak wavelength during a temperature increase can be kept at a small value with respect to the peak wavelength at a normal temperature in an optical element formed using such a selected material, and therefore the transmittance can be reduced.
