Title:
OPTICAL FIBER AMPLIFIER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2010/079773
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is an optical fiber amplifier wherein oscillation of ASE can be suppressed. An optical fiber amplifier is provided with: a second amplifying fiber (30) having a rare-earth element added therein; a second excitation light source (26) which supplies the second amplifying fiber (30) with excitation light; a storage section (40) which stores the relationship between an oscillation threshold excitation power, i.e., the power of excitation light with which the ASE in a wavelength band different from a signal wavelength band generated from the second amplifying fiber (30) is oscillated, and the temperature of the second amplifying fiber (30); and a temperature control section (38), which controls the temperature of the second amplifying fiber (30) so as to have the oscillation threshold excitation power is larger than the power of the excitation light outputted from the second excitation light source (26) by referring to the relationship stored in the storage section (40).
