Abstract:
This illumination device (10) for an endoscope includes an LED light source (50) having a rectangular light-emitting surface (52) formed substantially flat, and an optical fiber bundle (30) for guiding the light emitted from the LED light source (50) to the tip of an insertion part provided for the endoscope. The optical fiber bundle (30) is constituted by bundling a plurality of optical fibers (32). In the optical fiber bundle (30), the contour of the arrangement of the plurality of optical fibers (32) on the light-incidence end surface (42) arranged to face the light-emitting surface (52) of the LED light source (50) forms a rounded square shape.
