Abstract:
An optical fiber characteristic measurement device (1) comprises: a light detection unit (16) that detects Brillouin scattered light (LS) obtained by injecting light into optical fiber under test (FUT); a signal processing unit (18b) that obtains, on the basis of a detection signal (S1) outputted from the light detection unit, a first Brillouin gain spectrum (B1), which is the spectrum of the Brillouin scattered light obtained when the spectral width of the light injected into the optical fiber under test is a first width, and a second Brillouin gain spectrum (B2), which is the spectrum of the Brillouin scattered light obtained when the spectral width of the light injected into the optical fiber under test is a second width wider than the first width; and a measurement unit (18c) that measures the characteristics of the optical fiber under test on the basis of the first Brillouin gain spectrum and the second Brillouin gain spectrum.
