Abstract:
This optical fiber characteristic measuring device (1) is provided with: a light source unit (11) which outputs a frequency modulated laser beam; incident units (12, 13, 14, 15) which cause the laser beam outputted from the light source unit to be incident as continuous light (L1) and pulse light (L2) into one end and the other end, respectively, of a fiber under test (FUT); a light detection unit (16) which detects light emitted from the fiber under test and outputs a detection signal (D1); and a wave detection unit (17, 18a) which, in each of a first period (T1), during which scattered light based on the continuous light and the pulse light can be emitted from the fiber under test, and a second period (T2), shorter than the first period, during which scattered light cannot be emitted from the fiber under test, detects scattered light on the basis of an integrated value obtained by integrating the detection signal over a prescribed time interval.
