Abstract:
An optical fiber connection mechanism is provided with a pair of connectors 20, 30 and a split sleeve 15, which are used for an endoscope. The connectors 20, 30 are respectively provided with ferrules 27, 37 in which ends of single mode optical fibers 25, 35 and collimator lenses 26, 36 are mounted, the collimator lenses 26, 36 are arranged at the front ends of the single mode optical fibers 25, 35. The optical fiber connection mechanism is configured so that, when the ferrules 27, 37 are inserted from the opposite ends of the split sleeve 15, the collimator lenses 26, 36 face each other with an air gap therebetween and the single mode optical fibers 25, 35 are optically connected. The ferrules 27, 37 are loosely fitted in the corresponding connectors 20, 30 so as to be movable in a predetermined range in the direction of the optical axis of the single mode optical fibers 25, 35.
