Abstract:
An optical-fiber core binder having a surface tension of not higher than 30 $g(m)N/m at 23 �C and containing (A) a radical-polymerizable oligomer, (B) a radical-polymerizable monomer, (C) a photopolymerization initiator, and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (D) modified silicone compounds and (E) nitrogen-sulfur compounds, wherein the amount of the at least one compound selected from the group consisting of the components (D) and (E) is 0.01 to 20 % by weight based on the total amount of components (A) to (E). The binder can provide cured products (solid materials) containing only a small amount of bubbles entrained and remaining therein and being excellent in the adhesion to a tension member and also in processability even when the binder is filled in the periphery of an optical fiber core while twisting optical fiber core filaments.
