Abstract:
In order to provide an optical fiber having a smaller temperature increase than conventional optical fiber, the present invention comprises a core (11) and a primary coating (12) having a lower refractive index than the core (11) and covering a side surface of the core (11) excluding a coating-removed section (10). The side surface of the core (11) is covered, across the coating-removed section (10), by an inorganic layer (14) having a lower refractive index than the core (11).
