Abstract:
Provided is an optical fiber module which is provided with: a polarization maintaining highly nonlinear optical fiber which comprises a core, a cladding that surrounds the core and is provided with two stress-applying parts that are formed along the core so as to sandwich the core, and a covering that covers the cladding; and a case in which the polarization maintaining highly nonlinear optical fiber is contained while being wound into a ring coil form. The polarization maintaining highly nonlinear optical fiber has a bending loss at a wavelength of 1550 nm of 0.01 dB/turn or less when wound at a diameter of 20 mm, a nonlinear coefficient (γ) at a wavelength of 1550 nm of 10 W-1km-1 or more, a cutoff wavelength (λc) of 1530 nm or less and a zero dispersion wavelength of 1400-1650 nm (inclusive).
