Abstract:
The objective of the present invention is to provide an optical fiber monitoring method and an optical fiber monitoring system capable of accurately identifying the location at which a loss has occurred in an optical fiber cable, by associating information obtained from a measurement result with information stored in a database. This optical fiber monitoring method employs two types of optical fiber measuring technique having different sensitivities. The positions of each closure on an optical fiber cable are acquired using a high-sensitivity measuring technique, and geographical position information and the position on the optical fiber are associated with one another in the order in which the closures are arranged. Therefore, when an operator detects an abnormality in a closure using a low-sensitivity measuring technique, the operator can recognize the actual position (geographical position information) of the closure associated with the position of the point of abnormality on the optical fiber cable.
