Abstract:
This optical fiber production device is provided with a heating furnace for heating and melting an optical fiber base material, a drawing mechanism, a coating mechanism, and a transfer mechanism. The drawing mechanism pulls out a glass optical fiber from the heated and melted optical fiber base material, adjusts the outer diameter of the glass optical fiber, and draws the glass optical fiber having the adjusted outer diameter. The coating mechanism applies a coating resin to the outer circumferential surface of the glass optical fiber having the adjusted outer diameter. The transfer mechanism causes the coating mechanism to retreat, in a returnable manner, from a path in which the glass optical fiber is passed.
