Abstract:
An optical fiber sensing system according to the present disclosure comprises: an optical fiber (10); a communication unit (21) that transmits pulse light to the optical fiber (10) and receives an optical signal from the optical fiber (10); a distal end sensing unit (22) that continuously or regularly senses the distal end position of the optical fiber (10) on the basis of the optical signal received from the optical fiber (10); and a breakage sensing unit (23) that determines that the optical fiber (10) has broken if the difference between the distal end position detected by the distal end sensing unit (22) and the initial value of the distal end position exceeds a prescribed value.
