Abstract:
This optical fiber comprises a core having a maximum refractive index n1 and an outer diameter 2a, and a cladding having a refractive index n0 smaller than the maximum refractive index n1 at an interface with the core. The core has at least a first region and a second region that are each a partial region in the radial direction thereof and are adjacent to each other in the radial direction. The shape of a refractive-index distribution n(r) in the radial direction of the core is defined by an α power indicated in a predetermined equation with respect to a radial distance r from the center of the core. In the first region and the second region, the refractive-index distribution n(r) follows α-power distributions different from each other. The mode field diameter at a wavelength of 1310 nm is 8.2-9.6 μm. The zero dispersion wavelength is 1300-1324 nm. The bend loss at a wavelength 1550 nm at a bend radius of 10 mm is 7.5 dB/10 turn or less.
