Abstract:
The present invention addresses the problem of providing an optical film whereby reddening of a reflection image on a periphery relative to an original image can be suppressed when the optical film is used in an image display device, and of providing a method for manufacturing a light absorption anisotropic layer, and an image display device. This optical film has a light absorption anisotropic layer containing a liquid crystalline compound and a dichroic substance, wherein the angle θ formed by the transmittance center axis of the light absorption anisotropic layer and the direction normal to the surface of the light absorption anisotropic layer is 0-45°, and the haze value of the optical film is more than 1% and no more than 20%.
