Disclosed is an optical film having a polarizer-protecting film which is mainly composed of a (meth)acrylic resin and extremely excellent in adhesion to a polarizer composed of a polyvinyl alcohol resin. Also disclosed is a polarizing plate comprising a polarizer composed of a polyvinyl alcohol resin and a polarizer-protecting film mainly composed of a (meth)acrylic resin. This polarizing plate has high optical transparency and excellent optical characteristics and mechanical strength, while being extremely excellent in adhesion between the polarizer and the polarizer-protecting film. Further disclosed is a high quality image display using such a polarizing plate. The optical film is obtained by sequentially arranging a polarizer-protecting film mainly composed of a (meth)acrylic resin, a polyethyleneimine layer, and a polyvinyl alcohol resin layer in this order.
