Abstract:
The present invention provides an optical film in which excellent adhesion between a resin substrate and an optically anisotropic layer is obtained, and in which the occurrence of optical defects in the optically anisotropic layer is suppressed. This optical film has a resin substrate having an alignment-regulating force, and an optically anisotropic layer positioned on the resin substrate, wherein the optically anisotropic layer includes a liquid crystal compound and a compound which differs from the liquid crystal compound and which has a hetero atom, and when a component of the optical film in the depth direction thereof is analyzed by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry while the optical film is irradiated by an ion beam from a first surface to a second surface, the first surface being the surface of the optical film on the optically anisotropic layer side thereof, and the second surface being the surface of the optical film on the resin substrate side thereof, the obtained profile satisfies a predetermined condition.
