Abstract:
Provided is an optical glass that is produced by a cutting method using a laser beam and demonstrates, in the production of a product and use thereof, improved strength, less susceptibility to breaking when impact or other such external force acts thereon or improved bonding strength with respect to a chassis, thereby increasing the reliability of the product. The optical glass (100) is a sheet of optical glass to be bonded so as to cover an opening in a chassis, characterized in that the optical glass comprises a glass base body (110) having a first main surface (110A) on the side to be bonded to the chassis, a second main surface (110B) on the side facing away from the first main surface, and a cut surface resulting from a cut along a modified region (R) formed by light radiated such that a focal point is formed on the inside, the modified region (R) being located more toward the second main surface (110B) side in the cross section of the glass base body (110).
