Disclosed is an optical information recording medium (10) including: a plurality of recording layers (14) each having a refractive index that changes by irradiation with recording light; and an intermediate layer (15) provided between the recording layers (14). The intermediate layer (15) includes: a first intermediate layer (15A) that is juxtaposed with one of the recording layers (14) on the side opposite from the side from which the recording light is incident; and a second intermediate layer (15B) that is juxtaposed with one of the recording layers (14) on the side from which the recording light is incident. The first intermediate layer (15A) has a different refractive index from the recording layers (14), and the second intermediate layer (15B) has substantially the same refractive index as the recording layers (14). The refractive index at the interface between the first intermediate layer (15A) and the second intermediate layer (15B) changes gradually by the mixture of the first intermediate layer (15A) and the second intermediate layer (15B).
