Disclosed is an optical information recording medium provided with: a plurality of recording layers (14), the refractive index of which changes due to exposure to a light to be recorded; and intermediate layers (15) disposed between the plurality of recording layers (14). The recording layers (14) have a polymeric binder, and a dye dispersed by the polymeric binder. The intermediate layers (15) have a different refractive index than the recording layers (14) near the interfaces (back side interfaces (18)) with at least the recording layers (14) that are adjacent to the intermediate layers (15) at the side in which the light to be recorded is incident. The glass transition temperature of the polymeric binder is lower than the melting point and decomposition point of the dye, and information is recorded as a result of changes in the refractive index of the polymeric binder due to heat generated by the absorption of the light to be recorded by the dye.
