Title:
OPTICAL INTEGRATED CIRCUIT COMPRISING A LIGHT GUIDE FORMING AT LEAST ONE OPTICAL SEPARATION
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2006129035
Kind Code:
B1
Abstract:
The invention concerns an optical integrated circuit with waveguide separation on a substrate (3), the circuit comprising at least one separating unit, the unit including an optical input/output interface designed to be associated with an external means for guiding a light wave, the interface extending into the circuit through an optical guiding input section extended by at least two optical guide branches (7, 8) mutually spaced apart substantially symmetrically relative to the general direction of the input section. The invention is characterized in that the input section comprises as many optical guides (4a, 4b) as there are branches, the adjacent optical guides of the input section being substantially rectilinear and mutually parallel, two adjacent optical guides of the input section being separated by an aperture (9) of specific width D, the refractive index of the aperture being less than that of the optical guides, and each branch optical guide has a width increasing in the direction away from the input section from the width We1 to a specific width Ws.
