Provided is an optical media playback device that includes the following: a detection unit in which luminous flux is split into a plurality of regions which include a first region and a second region the positions of which are different in the radial direction and/or the tangential direction, and signals of a plurality of channels are formed by combining, using selected combination patterns, a plurality of detection signals corresponding to the intensity of light incident in each of the plurality of regions; a multi-input equalizer unit that includes a plurality of equalizer units to which the signals of the plurality of channels are respectively supplied, and that calculates the output of the plurality of equalizer units and outputs the same as equalized signals; and a binarization unit that carries out binarization processing on the equalized signals to obtain binary data. For at least one combination pattern, the channel of an addition signal, which includes the constant multiplication of the detection signals of the first and second regions, is included.
