Abstract:
Provided is an optical member which makes it possible, at low cost, to prevent reductions to visibility that occur when a liquid crystal display device having a protective cover is viewed through polarized sunglasses. This optical member is provided with a polarizing film and a protective cover. The in-plane retardation of the protective cover is at least 1000 nm, and the angle formed by the slow axis of the protective cover and the absorption axis of the polarizing film is 40° to 50°.
